Golden Knights at Bruins on Monday: Las Vegas Opens Its Atlantic Swing at TD Garden
The Golden Knights (8-4-1) visit Boston on Monday night after the Bruins beat Chicago 5-4 in overtime — Jack Eichel's 19 points lead a Vegas offense averaging 3.54 goals a game into a matchup with one of the league's stingier home teams.
The Vegas Golden Knights open a four-game Atlantic Division swing on Monday night at TD Garden, where the Boston Bruins host Vegas after knocking off the Chicago Blackhawks 5-4 in overtime on Saturday, the Associated Press reported. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. Eastern — 4 p.m. in Las Vegas — and the game is the first of four on the road trip for the Golden Knights.
Vegas arrives at 8-4-1 with a plus-nine goal differential, ranking eighth in scoring at 3.54 goals per game and inside the top 10 in goals allowed, according to the DraftKings Network preview read this cycle. Jack Eichel leads the Golden Knights with 19 points through 13 games, and Mark Stone has a team-high eight goals and 15 points. The power play has converted 24.4 percent of its chances.
The soft spot is the penalty kill, which ranks 28th in the league at 67.7 percent — the area Boston's power play will test after the Bruins' five-goal Saturday. Vegas had the weekend off after Friday's 5-2 home loss to New Jersey, the club's fourth loss in five games, so Monday is both a rest advantage and a chance to stop the slide before the trip continues to Pittsburgh on Tuesday.
