Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, and the valley has trunk-or-treats, a free Safe Night, HallOVeen at the Magical Forest and a downtown costume contest — here are the times and places verified for Oct. 31.

Halloween lands on a Saturday this year, and families across Las Vegas and Clark County have organized options from mid-afternoon into the night. Town Scary at Town Square, 6605 Las Vegas Boulevard South, runs from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. with trick-or-treating, music and games, and families are asked to bring their own bag. In Henderson, the Galleria at Sunset holds its Mall O Ween Spooky Carnival from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., and the District at Green Valley Ranch runs Monster Mash on Main Street from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. with costume contests by age group.
The city and county co-sponsored Halloween Safe Night returns to the Doolittle Community Center, 1950 North J Street, with free trunk-or-treating, games and refreshments while supplies last. The city listing gives 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and the county listing runs to 9 p.m., so families should plan on the earlier end time. HallOVeen at the Magical Forest, 6300 West Oakey Boulevard, runs through Saturday night from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., with tickets at $24 and children 3 and younger admitted free, according to the event guide.
For adults downtown, the Fremont Street Experience runs Halloween light shows on the Viva Vision canopy at the top of every hour from 6 p.m., and its costume contest sign-up opens at 6 p.m. behind the 3rd Street Stage and closes at 8:30 p.m.; the contest is free, for ages 21 and over, with prizes totaling up to $5,000. At the Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, the NHRA Las Vegas Nationals add trick-or-treating in the pits from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday between nitro qualifying sessions. Event details can change, so check with each venue before heading out.
