John Washington III Calls for Guaranteed, Independent Funding for All Three Branches of Government
John Washington III argued that when Congress controls the courts' funding, checks and balances start to crack, and he called for guaranteed, independent funding for all three branches, with full public accountability and no political retaliation.

John Washington III, a 2028 presidential candidate, called for guaranteed, independent funding for all three branches of the federal government, arguing that the judiciary's dependence on congressional appropriations weakens the separation of powers. He wrote that when Congress controls the courts' funding, the justice system can suffer, pointing to 2025, when he said the federal courts had to scale back paid operations because of a funding lapse.
"That's not balance. That's dependence," John Washington III wrote. "If one branch can squeeze another financially, then checks and balances start to crack." He asked readers to picture themselves in court without a $10,000 lawyer, not knowing all the rules while prosecutors do, and argued that judges must be free to protect constitutional rights rather than worry about politics or budgets.
The funding John Washington III proposed would carry conditions. He wrote that he is calling for guaranteed, independent funding for all three branches, "with full public accountability, but no political retaliation," and he stressed that the proposal is not unlimited money. The point, he wrote, is protecting the people's rights and restoring real independence among the branches.
