NHRA Las Vegas Nationals: Sunday Eliminations Are Under Way at The Strip, With the Points Leaders Holding No. 1 Seeds
Championship Sunday at the MOPAR NHRA Las Vegas Nationals opened with the points leaders on top of the ladders: Shawn Langdon, Jack Beckman, Dallas Glenn and Gaige Herrera all carried No. 1 qualifying spots into eliminations at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, the 19th of 20 events this season.

Eliminations day at the 26th annual MOPAR NHRA Las Vegas Nationals powered by Dodge is under way at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, and the ladders opened exactly as qualifying left them: with the championship leaders in the No. 1 slots. In Top Fuel, points leader Shawn Langdon's 3.672-second, 332.59 mph run earned his ninth No. 1 qualifier of the year and a first-round pairing with Cameron Ferre, while Tony Stewart (3.676, at a field-best 339.28 mph) drew Chris Powers.
Funny Car produced qualifying history: Jack Beckman's 3.836 at 335.32 mph led the class's first-ever all-three-second qualifying field, and he opened eliminations against Jeff Diehl. In Pro Stock, reigning champion and points leader Dallas Glenn (6.620) drew Alan Prusiensky, and two-time Pro Stock Motorcycle champion Gaige Herrera (6.799) took the No. 1 seed in that class for the fifth time this season.
The finals are scheduled for 4:40 p.m. Pacific, with television coverage of eliminations on FS1 at 5 p.m. Eastern. No winners had been decided when this file was staged; the results story runs in the next cycle.
