Golden Knights Recall Defenseman Viliam Kmec From Henderson Ahead of the Boston Trip
The Vegas Golden Knights have recalled rookie defenseman Viliam Kmec from the AHL's Henderson Silver Knights, adding blue-line depth on Sunday before the team opens its Atlantic road swing at the Boston Bruins on Monday night.

The Vegas Golden Knights added a fresh face to the blue line on Sunday, recalling rookie defenseman Viliam Kmec from the Henderson Silver Knights of the American Hockey League. Kmec is in his first professional season and joins the NHL roster ahead of the team's upcoming road schedule, according to the club's announcement as reported Sunday.
The recall gives Vegas extra defensive depth at the start of a four-game Atlantic Division swing that opens Monday night at TD Garden against the Boston Bruins. The Golden Knights travel at 9-5-1 but have lost four of their last five, including Friday's 5-2 home defeat to the New Jersey Devils, in a stretch where turnovers and defensive lapses have been the recurring theme.
Monday's game in Boston is the first meeting of the trip; Vegas's offense, which scored 41 goals in its first 10 games, has managed 11 in the last five. Whether Kmec draws into the lineup in Boston or serves as insurance, his arrival is the first roster move of the trip.
