Raiders' Maxx Crosby Is Not Going Anywhere: Las Vegas Has No Plans to Trade Its Star Before the Deadline, ESPN Reports
The rumor had a destination — San Francisco, next Sunday's opponent. ESPN's reporting on Sunday shut it down: the Raiders have held no trade discussions about Maxx Crosby this season, have no plans to make him available before the Nov. 10 deadline, and Crosby himself wants to remain a Raider for life.
Maxx Crosby does not appear to be going anywhere. League sources told ESPN that the Las Vegas Raiders star defensive end is not a trade candidate before the NFL's Nov. 10 deadline — the Raiders are not planning to make Crosby available in trade discussions, have not had any discussions this season with any team about a potential Crosby deal, and, unlike last year, Crosby does not want to leave. One source told ESPN this weekend that Crosby absolutely does not want to leave Las Vegas under any circumstances and hopes, though it is not fully in his control, to remain a Raider for life.
The production is why every contender calls. Crosby has made the Pro Bowl in each of the last five seasons, and through eight games this season he has three sacks, 18 quarterback hits and four tackles for loss. The backstory explains the caution on all sides: Las Vegas did attempt to trade Crosby to the Baltimore Ravens during the offseason, and an agreement that would have sent two first-round draft picks to Las Vegas was rescinded after he failed his physical.
The timing made the rumor louder than most. The team most linked to Crosby in the speculation is San Francisco — 6-1 entering its bye week, ranked sixth in points allowed and fourth in total yards allowed but 20th in sacks — and the 49ers host the Raiders next Sunday. San Francisco is hoping to get Nick Bosa, its only truly proven edge rusher, back from a calf injury for that game. On the reporting as it stands Sunday night, Bosa may return for it — but Crosby will be lining up against the 49ers, not for them.
