Grand Prix Prep: The Sands Avenue Overnight Lane Cuts Resume Monday Night and Run Through November 13
The overnight work that paused on Friday returns Monday. Sands Avenue, from Las Vegas Boulevard to Manhattan Street, drops to one lane in each direction from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. through November 13 as the Grand Prix build moves into its final two weeks before the November 19-21 race weekend.

Drivers who use the east side of the Strip after dark get their detour back on Monday night. The overnight lane reductions on Sands Avenue — one lane in each direction between Las Vegas Boulevard and Manhattan Street, from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. — resume on November 2 and run through November 13, according to the Grand Prix preparation reporting read by the desk. The same work ran through Friday, October 30, alongside matching overnight reductions on Harmon Avenue and a midnight-to-9 a.m. weekday reduction on Las Vegas Boulevard between Sands and Harmon, which have completed their scheduled runs.
Sands is the live wire because of where it sits: it runs past the Venetian and the Sphere corridor and carries resort traffic east toward Manhattan Street, and an overnight cut to one lane each way catches late-shift workers, airport runs and the after-midnight Strip crowd rather than the morning commute. The transit piece matters around the clock — the RTC of Southern Nevada closed the Sands Avenue and Spring Mountain Road stops on Routes 119 and 203 around the clock starting October 26, and the transit agency posts detours on its alerts page.
The calendar behind the cones is the build phase of the Las Vegas Grand Prix, which runs November 19 to 21: the organizers' preliminary transportation calendar has the track build running from August 31 to November 15, mostly as overnight lane closures on Harmon, Koval, Sands and Las Vegas Boulevard, with race-week circulation changes still to come. Koval Lane, Paradise Road and Frank Sinatra Drive are the usual ways around the Sands work, and they fill up fast. Race officials post maps and weekly updates on the Grand Prix transportation page, with text alerts available by texting F1LV to 31996.
