Monday Night Football: Bears Lead the Seahawks 13-9 at Halftime in Seattle (Las Vegas Strip News)

The Chicago Bears lead the Seattle Seahawks 13-9 at halftime of Monday Night Football at Lumen Field, in the Week 8 closer. Chicago struck first and controlled the half's shape: after Seattle's opening possession ended in a three-and-out, the Bears held the ball for 17 plays and 80 yards over 8 minutes 32 seconds — the longest drive by plays against Seattle this season — and finished it with a 1-yard touchdown pass from Caleb Williams to Luther Burden III.

The second quarter belonged to the kickers, until it didn't. Jason Myers' 27-yard field goal put Seattle on the board, and Cairo Santos answered twice, from 44 and then 38 yards, to stretch Chicago's lead to 13-3 with 1:12 left in the half. Seattle's answer came in one play of nerve: with 30 seconds left, Sam Darnold found Jaxon Smith-Njigba for a 43-yard touchdown — and Myers then missed the extra point, leaving the margin at four points instead of three at the break.

Chicago, 5-2 entering the night, receives the second-half kickoff; Seattle, 4-3, gets the game it wanted back within one score, at home, with its crowd awake. It is a halftime score only — the final from Lumen Field files in the next cycle, and with it the last line of the NFL's Week 8.
