Nevada Ballot Questions 6 and 7: Abortion Rights and Voter ID Get Their Second, Deciding Vote on Tuesday

Nevada Ballot Questions 6 and 7: Abortion Rights and Voter ID Get Their Second, Deciding Vote on Tuesday (Las Vegas Strip News)

Every Clark County ballot on Tuesday carries the same two statewide questions, and both are reruns by design. Nevada's constitution can be amended by citizen initiative only when voters approve the measure in two consecutive general elections. Question 6 and Question 7 both passed in 2024 — the abortion question with 64 percent yes, the voter ID question with 73 percent yes — so both return on November 3 for the second vote that decides whether they take effect.

Question 6 would write a right to abortion into the state constitution: care provided by a qualified health-care professional could not be denied before fetal viability — the point at which a fetus could survive outside the womb — or afterward when needed to protect the life or health of the pregnant patient. Abortion is already legal in Nevada by statute, generally up to 24 weeks with later life-or-health exceptions; a yes vote moves that protection from statute into the constitution, and a no vote leaves it in statute only.

Question 7 would require voters to present photo identification when voting in person, and to provide the last four digits of a driver's license or Social Security number when voting by mail. Nevada currently verifies voters by signature match rather than photo ID. The Culinary Workers Union Local 226, whose canvassers are working the valley this weekend, has endorsed a yes vote on Question 6 and a no vote on Question 7 in its 2026 endorsement guide. Polls are open Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at any Clark County vote center.
