Arrest Report: Teen Charged in the Bonneville Transit Center Shooting Is Due in Court Monday
A week after gunfire at the downtown Bonneville Transit Center injured two people and left the accused shooter wounded by a security guard's return fire, the case reaches a courtroom. The 17-year-old named in the Las Vegas police arrest report faces attempted murder and is due in court Monday, November 2.

The shooting happened at about 6:49 p.m. on Sunday, October 25 at the Bonneville Transit Center near Main Street in downtown Las Vegas, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department arrest report detailed by FOX5. Investigators reviewing parking-lot surveillance video say an argument inside the station spilled outside, where the suspect pulled a firearm and shot a man multiple times. A security guard was struck in the ankle by gunfire during the exchange, and a second armed security guard fired back, striking the suspect several times, the report says. All three injured people were taken to UMC for treatment.
Police named the suspect in the arrest report as Amari Heath, 17. He refused to speak with officers while receiving hospital care and was placed under arrest, according to the report. He faces charges of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and battery on a protected person. The charges are allegations; he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty, and court records show his next appearance is Monday, November 2.
The arrest report also carried a wider safety account from the station itself. Security personnel interviewed by police described ongoing concerns in the area, including recent incidents involving juveniles carrying firearms and a separate case in which an officer's duty weapon was stolen and used in a shooting, according to the report's account. No one was killed in the October 25 shooting, based on the official accounts read for this story — and the court proceeding Monday is the case's next step.
