I-11 Reopens in Henderson After a Two-Hour Closure at Horizon Ridge — a Woman in Crisis Brought Down Safely
Henderson police and firefighters talked a woman down from the Horizon Ridge overpass on Monday afternoon, closing Interstate 11 between College Drive and Horizon Ridge Parkway in both directions. She was taken to a hospital, no one else was hurt, and the freeway was fully open by mid-afternoon.

Interstate 11 in Henderson is open again in both directions after police shut the freeway down between College Drive and Horizon Ridge Parkway for close to two hours on Monday afternoon, according to Henderson police as reported by News 3 and KTNV and read in full by the desk. Officers responded to a woman in crisis on the Horizon Ridge overpass, and with help from the Henderson Fire Department they brought her down safely. She was taken to a hospital, police said; no other injuries were reported. Nevada State Police confirmed the closure, and all lanes were back open by about 2:30 to 2:40 p.m.
While the freeway was closed, traffic backed up on I-11 and onto nearby surface streets through the heart of the afternoon. Lanes are clear now, but drivers crossing Henderson for the evening commute should expect lingering slowdowns around Horizon Ridge Parkway and College Drive. When this stretch of I-11 closes, Eastern Avenue and Boulder Highway are the usual alternates — both carried the diverted load on Monday.
Police released no name and no further detail about the woman, and none is needed to understand what happened on the overpass: a person in crisis, a freeway closed to give responders room, and a safe ending. If you or someone you know is struggling, call or text 988 — the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline — at any hour.
