Grand Prix Build: Sands Avenue Road Work Resumed Monday and Runs Through November 13 in Overnight Windows (Las Vegas Strip News)

Road work for the Las Vegas Grand Prix resumed on Sands Avenue on Monday, Nov. 2, and is scheduled to run through Friday, Nov. 13, as crews finalize infrastructure for the race weekend of Nov. 19-21. The overnight lane reductions affect major streets around the Strip circuit — Sands Avenue, Harmon Avenue and Las Vegas Boulevard — under the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada's published schedule for the build.

The work is deliberately nocturnal. Crews operate from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Sands and Harmon Avenues, while work on Las Vegas Boulevard runs from midnight until 9 a.m. The RTC has also mandated the closure of several bus stops on Sands Avenue and Spring Mountain Road to facilitate the work, affecting Routes 119 and 203. The current restrictions follow a late-October round of overnight reductions that concluded Oct. 30.

The Sands Avenue phase sits inside the organizers' wider preliminary build calendar, which runs from Aug. 31 to Nov. 15 and is made up mostly of overnight lane closures on Harmon, Koval, Sands and Las Vegas Boulevard. Drivers crossing the resort corridor overnight for the next ten days should expect narrower lanes and slower going near the circuit — and should treat Sands Avenue, in particular, as a road to route around after 9 p.m.
