Nevada Governor Race Polls: Lombardo and Ford Enter Election Day Tied at 47 Percent

Nevada's race for governor goes into Tuesday's voting in a virtual dead heat: the final Noble Predictive Insights poll has Gov. Joe Lombardo and Aaron Ford tied at 47 percent each, and a national aggregate gives Ford a lead of less than one point.

Nevada Governor Race Polls: Lombardo and Ford Enter Election Day Tied at 47 Percent (Las Vegas Strip News)

Nevada voters will decide one of the closest governor's races in the country on Tuesday, and the final polling says there is nothing between the candidates. Noble Predictive Insights' last survey of the cycle has Republican Gov. Joe Lombardo and Democratic Attorney General Aaron Ford tied at 47 percent each, with 4 percent of voters undecided. A separate aggregate from MSNOW and data firm FiftyPlusOne puts Ford fractionally ahead, 46.3 percent to 45.6 percent — a lead well inside any margin of error.

Ford, a Las Vegas Democrat and the state's attorney general, is challenging Lombardo, the former Clark County sheriff seeking a second term as governor. The Center Square, whose preview of the race the desk read in full, reported it sought comment from both campaigns and received no response from either before publication. Mike Noble, the founder and CEO of Noble Predictive Insights, told the outlet that Lombardo's personal popularity among Nevada voters is a distinctive asset for the incumbent in this cycle — one reason a challenger running even with him is itself a story.

With more than 730,000 ballots already cast statewide before Election Day, the tie will be broken by the voters who show up Tuesday: Clark County's 138 vote centers are open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., anyone in line at 7 p.m. still votes, and the county posts its first results after the polls close. A race this close, in a state that counts mail ballots postmarked by Election Day through Nov. 7, may not produce a settled answer on Tuesday night — but Tuesday is when Nevada starts giving one.
